Preserving History and Craft: Our Role in the 2024 ASID Design Home at the Pillsbury Castle

When the ASID Design Home 2024 was announced, it quickly became one of the most anticipated design events in Minnesota. The historic Pillsbury Castle, a Minneapolis landmark brimming with old-world craftsmanship and architectural grandeur, was chosen as the setting for this ambitious transformation. Nearly 10,000 visitors toured the home, experiencing firsthand how more than 30 ASID designers and leading Twin Cities contractors came together to reimagine a piece of Minnesota history for modern living.

Among the standout contributors was Quality Cut Design | Remodel, known for its exceptional attention to detail, dedication to preservation, and deep respect for architectural history.

Restoring Elegance, One Room at a Time

Quality Cut Design | Remodel was entrusted with several of the Castle’s most intricate and personal spaces — including the Primary Suite (bedroom, bathroom, and closet), the Powder Room, Guest Bedroom 1, and its en suite bathroom on the second floor. On the main level, their work extended to the vestibule and another powder room, where craftsmanship and character were restored to their original glory while integrating contemporary design and function.

Each room presented a unique challenge: blending the historical integrity of the 1903 castle with the needs of a 21st-century lifestyle. The Quality Cut team brought decades of remodeling experience to the project, working hand in hand with ASID designers to ensure that every finish, fixture, and detail honored the building’s legacy while providing timeless comfort.
